About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Ådö Fiskehamn is an active fishing harbour on the island of Ådön outside Jakobstad in Ostrobothnia, Finland. The harbour brings together many coastal fishermen and fishery-related businesses and was originally built in 1986. It has undergone a major renovation in which the yard area and the loading quay were fully rebuilt, and a new guest jetty along with new storage facilities were added.
The harbour sits at the outermost point reachable by car towards the sea, surrounded by small islets such as Gubben and Gumman. There has been local debate about the harbour's development from a pure fishing harbour towards also including berths for leisure boats, and floating pontoons for recreational craft have been built following a lengthy permitting process.
Within the harbour area, Strandis runs a small shop and a fish stall selling fresh local fish – from whole fish to fillets and smoked products – on weekdays. There is also a fuel station in the harbour where you can refuel.
Nearby the harbour lie the islets Rajstall and Gaddstacken, and the Alholmens Kraft biomass power station is located a few kilometres southeast of the harbour. Stop by the fish stall on Ådö for fresh fish straight from the sea.
