About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedfrom the harbour's website · 27 September 2026Abaja Harbour is a small community-run marina on the west coast of Saaremaa, by the village of Abaja near Kihelkonna. The harbour has a fixed quay of 20.1 m and a floating pontoon of 30 m, both with a depth of 1.1 m at the quay, while the entrance channel depth is as low as 0.5 m with a minimum width of 6 m. The harbour is designed for smaller boats up to 6 m in length, 2 m in beam and 0.3 m draught. The navigation season runs from 1 May to 1 October, and the harbour is open from sunrise to sunset. There is no harbour master, and contact is made by phone – VHF is not used. The exit channel is marked with buoys: red to starboard and green to port on departure, while large rocks in the bay are marked with yellow buoys. No fee is charged for mooring, as the harbour does not offer paid harbour services.
The harbour has a toilet and the possibility of electricity at the quay, as well as a slipway that guests may use by arrangement with the harbour operator. Parking is also available, but access to the area requires contacting the harbour operator to ensure access to the slipway, unloading area and floating pontoon.
The surrounding area is a community recreation zone hosting picnics, midsummer bonfires, concerts and the traditional rowing competition, as well as sailing training for schools and kindergartens. Kihelkonna, with its historic St.
