Pian near Himmelpfort lies on the Upper Havel Waterway in the southern part of the Mecklenburg Lake District and is home to a small charter company, Pelzkuhl Charter, which rents out licence-free houseboats and motorboats for 2-4 people. The base is located on Piansee/Haussee, where you pick up your boat and an instructor gives a 2-3 hour briefing covering theory, technique and route planning, with chart material also provided on board. Free car parking is available at the base within the holiday complex. From here you can sail out into quiet bays to anchor, or visit one of the nearby harbours, where summer events are often held.
