About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Aspretto is a small harbour south of Ajaccio in Corsica, built around the former naval base at the site. The base was inaugurated in 1938 and initially served as a seaplane station, later becoming a search-and-rescue centre. The harbour is protected by a sea breakwater and also includes a heliport; the area has been part of a Natura 2000 site since 2007. Today both military vessels and pleasure boats moor here.
Approaching from Pointe des Sanguinaires, sailors follow a true course of 064°, leaving the Guardiola beacon to port and then the Citadelle beacon, after which the Aspretto harbour lights appear straight ahead. The entrance is marked by a green outer jetty light (Iso.G.4s) and a red inner jetty light (Iso.R.4s).
The harbour is home to a nautical club offering sea fishing, boating activities including boat licence courses, and sailing.
Nearby lies Aspretto beach, and the view towards the Ajaccio citadel is a well-known landmark for sailors approaching the area.
