About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedfrom the harbour's website · 27 September 2026Stadthafen Leipzig sits in the heart of the city on the Elstermühlgraben, just 400 metres from the Neues Rathaus, and forms part of Leipzig's extensive waterway network of nearly 300 km of rivers and canals. The whole harbour area covers about 13,800 square metres, of which the harbour basin makes up around 4,025 square metres. At the Außenmole, laid out back in 2010 when the Elstermühlgraben was reopened, there are six floating berths reserved for passenger vessels. The inner basin further offers space for 40 sport and family boats as well as landing spots for kayaks and canoes. Bike rental is available at the harbour area, along with boat hire, an outdoor seating area and a beach volleyball court. Stadthafen is expected to open in its full form in early June 2026, bringing restaurants, services and water-tourism attractions that will bring life to both the harbour grounds and the surrounding city districts. Stop by the Außenmole and experience Leipzig's new urban harbour right next to the town hall.
