About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Port de Gustavia is the natural harbour at Gustavia on the island of Saint-Barthélemy in the French West Indies. The harbour consists of two parts – a marina and a commercial port – welcoming boats, yachts and tourists. It is described as one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the Caribbean, surrounded by the small capital town.
Contact with the harbour office is made on VHF channel 12, and you must call the harbour master before manoeuvring anywhere in the port. Vessels entering or leaving must use the marked access channel, and the maximum speed within the port area is 3 knots. Manoeuvring at the quay or on buoys is not permitted at night between 17:00 and 07:00, so it's best to plan your arrival in daylight.
At the quays you'll find fresh water with individual meters and shore power (220V/32A). There are toilets and showers, plus free wifi via a code available from the harbour office. Waste sorting is mandatory on Saint-Barthélemy, and the port provides dedicated containers for this. Fuel can be taken on at the port's fuel station, and for repairs and haul-outs there is a boatyard facility with a slipway, a 50-tonne crane and a 16-tonne travelift.
Gustavia is easily explored on foot from the harbour, offering duty-free shopping, the historic Fort Gustave and Fort Carl, and a small island history museum. Some of the island's finest beaches, including Shell Beach and Grand and Petit Cul de Sac, are within easy reach.
