About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Baggviken is a natural harbour on the eastern side of Mjältön, Sweden's highest island, in the High Coast archipelago within Kramfors municipality. The bay lies inside a nature reserve and is considered one of the most visited natural harbours in the area.
Baggviken can only be reached by private boat, kayak or boat taxi, as there is no road access. A floating jetty with room for three boats extends toward the mainland, and during peak season many visiting boats can be found here at once.
Ashore you'll find a sauna and the chance to shower with tempered water from a nearby tarn. There is an outdoor eco-toilet, and fresh water is available from a spring. The bay also offers barbecue sites and good tent pitches for those wanting to stay overnight ashore.
From Baggviken a marked path leads up to the summit of Bastutoberget, 236 metres above sea level – a walk of about 2 km rewarded with a magnificent view over the Höga Kusten World Heritage site. To the south you can walk 1.3 km to the fine sandy beach at Baggsand. Moor up in Baggviken, hike to the summit, and take in the spectacular view over the High Coast archipelago.
