Ballen Havn

Ballen Lystbådehavn is a private marina in Svendborg Municipality, beautifully situated at the western entrance to Svendborgsund opposite Skarø. The marina, once a fishing hamlet, has 129 berths and is run by Ballen Havneforening. The harbour can be entered day and night at moderate speed; the largest vessels that can call are around 15 m long and 4 m wide. A fixed red light marks the head of the eastern breakwater, and the pier heads are lit. A guest berth costs DKK 180 per night, while a day ticket for daytime stays costs DKK 50. On the pontoons you'll find toilets and showers, 230V power and water, plus a slipway and mast crane for launching and hauling out. The marina offers free wifi (code: BallenHavn), bicycles for loan, playground equipment and a crab pool for children, a picnic shelter, motorhome parking and a defibrillator. Just east of the harbour lies a child-friendly beach with a bathing jetty and sandy bottom, and 100 metres away runs the idyllic Syltemade Å stream with a 3 km path through hilly countryside. Grocery shops can be found in Vester Skerninge and Ollerup, about 3.5 km away. Divers can visit the wreck of the M/F Ærøsund just 1.2 km offshore. Tie up at the pontoon, borrow a bike into Vester Skerninge, and enjoy the calm of the South Funen archipelago.
