About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Ballyleague Marina is a public marina on the River Shannon, built by Waterways Ireland on the western bank of the river, right at the northern tip of Lough Ree, where Ballyleague faces Lanesborough across the old bridge.
On site you'll find toilets and showers, and a slipway lets you launch boats, jet skis, canoes and kayaks directly into the Shannon.
Within walking distance you can reach Lanesborough's shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants. The area also offers the Commons Woodland Trail with a limestone quarry and playground, the Lough Ree distillery, and plenty of opportunities for rowing, kayaking, water skiing and windsurfing on Lough Ree. The Shannon is well known for fishing for bream, tench, rudd and pike.
Pull in at the quay, enjoy a shower and take a stroll into town before continuing your cruise out onto Lough Ree.
