About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Barcaggio is a small fishing and pleasure harbour in the commune of Ersa, right at the tip of Cap Corse. The harbour sits at the head of a peaceful bay at the mouth of the Acqua Tignese stream, with the island of Giraglia visible offshore.
Entry into the bay is straightforward, but it is largely open to the north and only partly sheltered from the southeast; the bottom is sandy and there is a small jetty. Depth at the quay is very modest, around one and a half metres, and the harbour offers a limited number of berths in the small bay - best suited to short stays in settled weather.
Onboard facilities are very limited. Barcaggio has essentially no shops, but on the large sandy beach by the harbour you'll find a paillote - a simple beach restaurant/snack bar. Paid parking is available near the beach in summer.
Within walking distance lies one of Corsica's most striking dune systems and a beautiful sandy beach, along with views of a Genoese tower and the island of Giraglia with its lighthouse. From here you can also join the famous coastal path, the Sentier des Douaniers, which continues on towards Macinaggio. Stopping here gives you an authentic taste of the wild, unspoilt northern tip of Cap Corse.
