About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Bärö is a former sea patrol station in the municipality of Kumlinge, in the eastern archipelago of Åland. The fairly untouched little archipelago island has a strong focus on nature, and the guest harbour sits by well-sheltered piers that have become a popular meeting place for boaters.
The harbour offers toilets and waste facilities, and Restaurant Glada Laxen is located right by the harbour, serving archipelago dishes where fried perch is a favourite among many. The old coastguard tower still stands on the island, and those who climb all the stairs are rewarded with a fine view over the archipelago, 40 metres above sea level.
The island is best explored on foot: a 5 km hiking trail leads around it, and there is also an orienteering course suited to both beginners and more experienced orienteers. After a good dinner at Glada Laxen, it's a nice way to end the day relaxing in the floating beach sauna. Moor at Bärö for a peaceful stop in beautiful archipelago surroundings, combining views, history and good food all in one place.
