About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Base fluviale Le Somail is a canal marina by the picturesque hamlet of Le Somail in the commune of Saint-Nazaire-d'Aude, right on the historic Canal du Midi. The marina is part of Port du Somail et de la Robine and sits along the canal's long lock-free stretch, offering 63 boat berths along the quays.
Maximum depth at the berths is 1.20 m, and maximum boat length is 30 m. The port office is open 9am-12pm and 2pm-7pm, with staff speaking French, English and Spanish. Advance booking is possible.
At the quays you'll find electricity and water, and the marina takes part in waste-sorting and holding-tank pump-out schemes. There is a slipway for launching boats, a parking area, and lifting/handling facilities for boats in the port. From April to October a floating grocery boat calls at the port, and there is a restaurant and a bar close by.
Le Somail is one of the most distinctive spots along the Canal du Midi, with buildings dating from the canal's 17th-century construction: the old stone bridge, the chapel, and the preserved ice house. The hamlet also has a large second-hand bookshop and several restaurants within walking distance of the port. Moor up at Le Somail and discover one of the Canal du Midi's most atmospheric harbours.
