About the harbour

Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026

Base nautique de Noron is a public water-sports facility in Niort, run by Niort Agglo, on a 1 km long and 80 m wide stretch of water along the Sèvre Niortaise river, near the town's exhibition centre. Since January 2024 the area has held nature reserve status and is used for sailing, canoeing, kayaking, rowing, water-skiing and jet-skiing, by schools as well as clubs and individuals through club activities.

Access to the water is free, but regulated by a navigation order depending on the type of craft. Non-motorised craft such as rowing boats, canoes, kayaks and sport sailing dinghies have free access outside the time slots reserved for motorised boats. Navigation is only permitted on the downstream half of the water body, and outside the marked zone between two buoys speed is limited to 10 km/h. The facility is closed on days with competitions and official events.

On site there are 100 parking spaces, including 2 for disabled visitors, as well as two changing rooms with showers and public toilets.

The facility lies close to Niort's exhibition centre and the Sèvre Niortaise river, within a protected nature area. Bring your non-motorised craft and explore the scenic stretch of water along the Sèvre Niortaise outside the slots reserved for motorboats.
