About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026The landing on the north side of Blejski otok (Bled Island) lies in the western part of Blejsko jezero (Lake Bled) in Slovenia. The island is a small, tree-covered limestone island of 0.82 hectares, rising up to 18 metres above the lake surface, situated between the localities of Mlino and Zaka.
The north-side dock is the only place where small boats, SUP boards and swimmers can land, as it lies on the opposite side of the island from the famous 99-step staircase. The dock is narrow with limited space and can be wet and slippery. From the dock, a small stone staircase leads up to the island's plateau, and a spring bubbles up right beside it, flowing into the lake.
At the top of the island, reached via the main staircase on the south side, stands the pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Mary with its freestanding bell tower, along with buildings such as the former provostry and sexton's house, a small chapel, and a shop/café (Potičnica) where you can taste the traditional Slovenian potica cake. Along the northern shore there is also a small stone chapel from 1888 dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes.
