About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Borgåsunds Gästhamn och Café is a small, cosy guest marina at the entrance to the Strömsholm Canal and the Mälaren bay Freden, about 1 km south of Strömsholm and midway between Västerås and Eskilstuna. The site was once Mälaren's largest harbour, used for transferring iron from the Bergslagen mining district, and the historic harbour setting still shapes a visit today.
The marina offers 20 guest berths and is open during the summer season. The overnight fee is 140 SEK, with shore power available for an extra 60 SEK. According to a harbour guide, depths in the marina range from around 1.8 to 3.5 metres.
Onboard comforts include fresh showers and toilets as well as shore power on the jetty. Canoe, kayak and bicycle rentals are available right at the marina, and the on-site café/restaurant serves everything from shrimp sandwiches to home-baked buns and ice cream, making it a popular stop for both boaters and motorcyclists. About 15 parking spaces plus a few motorhome spots are available by the restaurant.
Within walking distance you'll find Strömsholm Palace (3 km), the Strömsholm riding school (2 km), Westerqwarn (5 km) and the canal's first lock (2 km), along with a horse museum whose digital tour starts right at the guest marina. Pay a visit to Borgåsund and experience its storied harbour setting from both water and land.
