About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Centro Náutico Moitense is a nautical association based at the Cais da Moita, on the bank of the Tagus (Tejo) estuary in the municipality of Moita (Setúbal district), not far from the Vasco da Gama Bridge. The association was founded on 1 December 1980 and runs sailing, canoeing and other nautical activities from its base at Largo da Praia.
There is no VHF channel at the facility. At the river entrance, boats can be left where there is a safe draught, after which a local master collects them and brings them on to the Moita Pier, sometimes with a short tour along the river basin. Opening hours are given as 09:00-13:00 and 15:00-18:00. The municipality has also built a new mooring project at the pier with capacity for 22 traditional boats, and the association has recently received floating pontoons from the Lisbon Port Authority to improve mooring conditions.
The Moita Pier is today a tourist attraction, and the association regularly hosts events such as an Optimist regatta, a fishing contest and a religious cruise, alongside cultural activities linked to the traditional Tagus boats and the local salt-production heritage.
