About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 30 September 2026Port Gorzów is an old river harbour on the Warta in Gorzów Wielkopolski, located in the Zawarcie district near the Lubuski bridge and on the international waterway E-70. The harbour was established in 1886 as a sheltered winter port where ships could take refuge during high water, ice jams and the winter season, and before 1945 the town was a base for inland shipping with a 0.5 km quay handling over 180 barges monthly. Today it is the only shipyard on the Warta, run by the boaters' association 'Przystań Gorzów', which carries out maintenance and assembly work on vessels; there are also plans to create a genuine marina for passenger and yacht traffic within the harbour basin, though this depends on EU funding and has not yet been realised.
The harbour has a still-functioning slipway used in connection with the shipyard's work. Here you can see the over 100-year-old icebreaker 'Kuna', restored on site, as well as the historic 19th-century steamer 'Kormoran', currently being reassembled, making the harbour a living museum of inland shipping history.
