About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Farsund Gjestehavn is located on Gåseholmen right in the centre of Farsund on the Sørlandet coast, a pleasant stop for sailors cruising along the southern Norwegian coastline. The guest harbour has several times been named Norway's best guest harbour.
Mooring is alongside a spacious quay with a depth of 2.4 metres; if the main pier by the Coop Extra shop is full, you can moor at the pier on the opposite side of the harbour. The harbour operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so advance booking is not possible, but there is always meant to be room for everyone. The harbour fee is NOK 250 per night, and daytime mooring is free. The harbour is well sheltered from most wind directions, though a southwesterly wind can cause some swell.
The harbour has a clean, modern sanitary facility with toilets, showers and a washing machine, and the harbour fee also includes wifi, access to water and electricity (Schuko sockets, bring an adapter) and a dryer; the wifi signal can vary somewhat. There is a Coop Extra grocery shop right by the quay on Gåseholmen. Parking for land-based visitors is limited.
A short walk brings you to Farsund town centre with pleasant streets, Torvets for coffee or a meal, and the barge "Bar Over" for a relaxed drink, while Folkepuben is great for a lively evening. Just 5-10 minutes' walk from the harbour lies Farsund Badehus, with a sauna, a bathing beach and a 10-metre diving tower.
