About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Gjøl Fiskeri- og Lystbådehavn is an atmospheric marina with distinctive red houses, beautifully situated in the middle of the Limfjord in Jammerbugt Municipality. The harbour, owned by the municipality, was originally a small fishing hamlet and today has 145 permanent berths along with modern harbour facilities close to the historic village of Gjøl.
As a visiting sailor you can moor at any berth marked with green free signs, or use the dedicated guest pontoon. The harbour fee covers electricity and water, and is paid to the harbour warden who does rounds morning and evening – if you are not aboard at those times, you pay by leaving the amount in an envelope at the harbour office.
The harbour offers toilets, showers, fresh water and shore power at the berths, plus pump-out facilities for holding tanks. There is diesel, a slipway for trailer boats, a mast crane and a small chandlery. A washing machine and dryer can be used by arrangement with the harbour master, and free wifi is available. The newly built Nature and Culture Café serves coffee and local specialities with panoramic views of the fjord, and several restaurants and eateries are found around the harbour. Children can enjoy the newly renovated playground and the touch basins with crabs and fish, and free bike rental is available for exploring the surrounding area.
A short walk brings you to the historic inn Gjøl Kro, known as the place where author Hans Kirk wrote his novel 'Fiskerne' (The Fishermen).
