About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedfrom the harbour's website · 27 September 2026Jachthaven De Grote Wielen is a marina in the nature reserve De Groote Wielen near Leeuwarden, with permanent berths ranging from 2.2x4.5 m to 3.5x10 m and around 133 berths in total across seven size categories.
As a visiting sailor you moor at the roughly 60-metre-long guest quay. Berthing costs €2 per metre per night, plus a tourist tax of €1.50 per person per night. Booking is done online, where you enter your boat's length and the number of people on board.
The marina offers power and water points on the quay (electricity can be paid via an app), waste disposal and lighting on site, as well as 24/7 CCTV surveillance and a gated area with a barrier. Directly opposite the guest quay is the newly renovated Groote Wielen Restaurant, where you can enjoy a meal and a drink after a day on the water.
From the marina you can explore Leeuwarden and its surroundings - there are sailing, cycling and walking routes through the nature reserve, plus a sailing school, electric sloop rental and an outdoor park with survival, paintball and archery nearby. Moor at the 60-metre guest quay and step straight across to the restaurant for a well-earned refreshment.
