Kvarnhamnen Stora Ornäs

Kvarnhamnen Stora Ornäs is the only small-boat harbour on Lake Ösjön in Dalarna, located at Ornäs within easy reach of both Falun and Borlänge. The harbour sits at the inlet to Lake Ösjön in an area combining cultural and natural heritage with a lively town setting, and a waterfront promenade with a wooden boardwalk runs along the harbour up toward the old mill.

The harbour has a publicly accessible slipway for launching smaller boats, which according to the municipality's planning documents is the only one of its kind on Lake Ösjön.

Within walking distance you'll find Ornässtugan, a historic house/museum where Gustav Vasa is said to have hidden in 1520 while fleeing the Danish military. The area also offers green open spaces with large birch trees and views over the water, along with a local grocery store nearby.
