About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedfrom the harbour's website · 28 September 2026Merikylä is one of the smaller marinas maintained by the municipality of Siikajoki, alongside Tauvo and Varessäikkä. The harbour is reached via a marked and staked channel, but be aware that depths can vary as sea currents often carry sand into the entrance – both entering and leaving require caution.
Berths can be booked through Siikajoki municipality, which allocates places each spring at the start of the boating season. During summer there is access to a seasonal water point (kesävesipost) for a fee of €10 per season, available to those who have paid a berth fee or water charge.
The harbour has a slipway for launching, cold water and a dry toilet (kuivakäymälä). There is also an ice machine for cooling catch or drinks. Unlike Tauvo and Varessäikkä, Merikylä has no summer kiosk.
The area around the municipal harbours generally offers good opportunities for leisure, fishing and swimming in the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Bothnia. Pull up at Merikylä's slipway, top up your water at the water post, and enjoy the simple, authentic atmosphere of this small fishing harbour.
