About the harbour

Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedfrom the harbour's website · 28 September 2026

Marina de Velas is located on the south side of the island of São Jorge in the Azores, just 200 metres from the centre of the town of Velas, with a spectacular view of a cliff face. The modern marina has capacity for 78 boats and forms part of the Azorean "triangle" together with Horta (22 nautical miles) and Lajes do Pico (17 nautical miles).

The marina monitors VHF channel 10 and 16. Opening hours are summer 08:00-12:00 and 13:00-20:00, winter 08:00-12:00 and 13:00-17:00.

The marina has a 10-tonne crane for boat lifting.

S. Jorge is known for its steep coastlines, lush fajãs and excellent hiking trails and surfing, and the island is also famous for its cheese production and traditional embroidered quilts. The town of Velas lies just 200 metres from the marina, offering its own charm and hospitality.
