About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Port-Rhu is the historic tidal basin in the heart of Douarnenez in Finistère, Brittany – part of the town's overall marina, closed off by a lock. The harbour sits right by the floating boat collection of the Port-Musée, and the wider Douarnenez port area offers capacity for 275 boats on pontoons and 225 boats on mooring buoys.
The basin is closed by a lock gate and can only be accessed around high tide. Visiting yachts are berthed on the pontoon near the Port-Musée's floating collection, with 50 guest berths and a depth of 3.8 m at the visitor pontoons. The harbour office listens on VHF channel 12, and the quayside branch office is only open in July and August, while the main office's hours vary by season.
On the pontoons you'll find water and electricity, as well as toilets and showers. Free wifi is available on the visitor pontoons, and there's a free-access internet computer at the branch office during the summer months.
Within walking distance lies the Port-Musée, open all year round with both floating vessels and exhibitions on maritime history. In summer, guided tours of the harbour and the early-morning fish auction are organised, and a footbridge connects across to the Tréboul district. Come and berth at Port-Rhu to experience Douarnenez's maritime heart right from the water.
