About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedfrom the harbour's website · 28 September 2026Porto di Vasto is a commercial cargo port in Abruzzo on Italy's Adriatic coast, served by the maritime agency Agenzia Marittima Vastese. The port is located at 42°10′05″N, 014°43′07″E and has two quays: Banchina di ponente, 210 m long (vessels up to 170 m permitted) and Banchina di riva, 345 m long (same maximum vessel length). The port monitors VHF channel 16.
Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 60 m/500 GT, and tug assistance is mandatory for vessels over 85 m in length. Vessels over 90 m may not manoeuvre at night. A group of mooring handlers is available, along with an 850 hp tugboat.
The port has cranes with lifting capacities of 30/40/100 tonnes and arm lengths of 20/40 m, grabs, forklifts, hoppers for bulk cargo, and a weighbridge. Storage is available directly on the quay and in a fenced/covered warehouse about 1 km from the port, totalling 7,000 m² covered and 8,000 m² open storage. Water can be supplied via an authorised company, and bunkering is carried out by tanker truck from a coastal depot. Mechanical workshops are on hand for repairs, including onboard work.
The port is a 20-minute drive from Vasto's central railway station, about 75 km from Pescara airport, 5 km from the Vasto Nord exit on the A14 motorway, and connected to the town centre by bus and taxi.
