About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Gottskär sits at the very tip of the Onsala peninsula in Kungsbacka municipality, where the Kungsbacka fjord opens towards the Kattegat. Once a fishing village, it is now home to an active small-boat and guest harbour surrounded by red boathouses and a lively village atmosphere.
The harbour has no dedicated guest berths. Instead, visiting sailors use the slips that stand empty while members are out at sea, and a green sign at the berth shows that a spot is free. The fee depends on boat length: under 9 metres costs 200 SEK per night, 9-11 metres 250 SEK, 11-12 metres 300 SEK, while larger boats can moor space permitting.
The pontoons offer around thirty power outlets and fresh water. The service house has two showers, three toilets and a laundry room. At the fuel station you can fill up with unleaded petrol and diesel and empty your holding tank. There is also a trailer ramp for launching, a sailmaker, restaurants, bicycle rental, and a large car park by the harbour.
Within walking or cycling distance you'll find Onsala church and the Onsala maritime museum about 7 km away, a bathing spot at Utholmen, and a bakery 2 km away. Kungsbacka town centre is 12-13 km away with a bus connection, from where you can catch a train onward to Gothenburg in about 45 minutes. Tie up in Gottskär and soak up genuine west-coast harbour life, with boathouses, breeze and the salty air of the fjord.
