About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedfrom the harbour's website · 28 September 2026Yacht Club Lingen (Ems) e.V. operates three marina sites on the Ems and the Dortmund-Ems Canal near Lingen, with a combined 610 metres of jetties. The Alte Fahrt harbour (Dortmund-Ems Canal) was built in 1977 and lies quietly away from commercial traffic, while the Ems-Vechte-Kanal site, dating from 1972, is the club's largest with 400 metres of jetty. The recreational area on the Ems, the oldest site from 1968, lies about three kilometres upstream from Gleesen amid natural surroundings.
Visiting sailors are asked to report to the relevant harbourmaster on arrival and ask about available guest berths. The Ems-Vechte-Kanal branches off the Ems at the railway bridge in Elbergen and is open to recreational craft. The cruising area extends from the Varloh lock to the Gleesen lock, after which the Ems takes over; the Listrup lock is self-operated. Boats with a draught of more than one metre should check the water level in advance.
At Alte Fahrt there are modern sanitary facilities with toilets and showers, plus a cosy seating area. Both Alte Fahrt and Ems-Vechte-Kanal offer shore power and freshwater connections, and each also has a pleasant outdoor seating area for guests and members. The recreational area on the Ems has a landing stage and a large natural site, well suited for day trips and club events.
Just 300 metres from the harbour on the Dortmund-Ems Canal is a charming café.
