About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Yttre Saltholmen is part of the municipal Saltholmen harbour group, owned and operated by the municipal company Grefab. The marina lies in the Älvsborg district of western Gothenburg, right at the western edge of the city, strategically placed between central Gothenburg and the southern archipelago.
Access to the harbour area is through a barrier opened with a digital key via the Parakey app system, and only boat owners with a berth agreement in the harbour have access to the key. There is no slipway on site — the nearest launching ramp is at Hinsholmskilen.
The marina has toilets, whose doors are also unlocked digitally via app. If you hold a winter-storage agreement, your mast can be stored in the mast shed, and the 18-metre-tall mast cranes can lift masts weighing up to 300 kg for stepping and unstepping. There are also 105 rental storage huts for gear, along with dedicated Grefab parking spaces at Yttre Saltholmen reserved for permit holders.
Within walking distance lies Saltholmen itself, from where ferries continue out to the southern archipelago islands such as Brännö, Styrsö and Vrångö. In summer the area is also a popular bathing spot with rocky shores for a swim, and there are scenic walking paths with sea views. You can reach the area by tram line 11 (line 9 in summer) from central Gothenburg. Berth at Yttre Saltholmen and have the archipelago right outside the barrier.
