About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 27 September 2026Alta Båthavn is run by Alta Båtforening and lies at the innermost part of Altafjorden, by Alta – Finnmark's largest town with around 21,000 inhabitants. The local small-boat harbour holds over 250 berths and is an active hub for local boaters.
The guest jetty offers 2 berths near the entrance, where you moor alongside the floating dock. Note that it can be shallow at low tide on the inside of the floating dock, and it can get a bit choppy on the outside towards the east. Harbour fees including electricity, wifi and toilet access cost 300 NOK per day, and everything can be booked and paid via the «GoMarina» app.
The service building offers showers and a toilet room, plus a washing machine and dryer. The harbour also has its own diesel fuel berth and its own slipway, as well as shore power on the pontoons for those who want it.
Alta is known for the Altaelva river, northern lights experiences and the famous rock carvings, which are on UNESCO's World Heritage list, as well as the Northern Lights Cathedral in the town centre. There are good walking opportunities in the surrounding area, and both Alta kayak club and Alta diving club are based at the harbour. Moor at the guest jetty and discover the Northern Lights City from the water.
