About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedfrom the harbour's website · 27 September 2026Alter Hafen in Würzburg is the former trading harbour on the river Main, built from 1875 and used until the 1940s, when cargo traffic moved to the new harbour. Today the area is mainly used for cultural purposes and offers three landing stages for river cruise ships. The harbour basin covers 2.6 hectares of a total area of 4.6 hectares, the fairway width is about 30 metres at the entrance and 50 metres in the basin, and the water depth is roughly 2.5-3 metres. The quay wall along Kulturspeicher runs for about 550 metres.
Around the old harbour basin you'll find Kulturspeicher with its museum, cabaret and dance theatre, the old customs house, the restaurant and bar ship MS Zufriedenheit, the Cinemaxx cinema, the nightclubs Das Boot and Zauberberg, and two hotels (Ibis and B&B). There is also a Shell and an Esso filling station nearby. Take a walk along the quay and experience the historic harbour setting with its old cranes and the Skulpturenufer, which links Alter Hafen with the Altstadt.
