About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Porto Asburgico is Angera's municipal harbour, a historic port dating from the Austrian customs era, located on the town's lakefront directly facing the islet of Isolino Partegora in the middle of the Gulf of Angera on Lake Maggiore.
The entrance is narrow and the bottom shallow and mostly sandy, though manoeuvring space inside the harbour is good. Inside you'll find a series of landing ramps for small boats and a quay offering 3 berths for temporary mooring. Berths are allocated through a public tender by the Autorità di Bacino Lacuale (the basin authority for Lakes Maggiore, Comabbio, Monate and Varese), and at night the entrance is marked by the characteristic red and green towers.
Outside the harbour basin there is a convenient slipway for launching boats.
Right in front of the harbour lies the small, protected islet of Isolino Partegora, covered in poplars and reed beds and home to a colony of cormorants; every year on the last Sunday in June it is the destination of an illuminated boat procession commemorating Saint Arialdo. The harbour structure itself is notable for its massive granite masonry dating from 1819, where the first steamboat docked in 1826, and it's just a short walk to the lakefront promenade and the Santuario della Madonna della Riva.
