About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Porto di Ranco is a municipal marina on the Lombardy shore of Lake Maggiore, in the small village of Ranco, not far from Angera. The harbour is modest in size and set in a picturesque spot where the lake widens.
The entrance is from the north and is protected by a modern floating breakwater, but you should watch out for shallow water along the whole area by the playground as well as stones along the breakwater. There are three guest berths on the south side of the harbour, fitted with mooring ladders (the middle one has long been cut, however), and since 2017 an additional 2-3 guest berths have been added via a new floating pontoon at the entrance to the main harbour. The marina is suitable for boats up to 7 metres, and mooring should be done bow-to due to the shallow water.
On the lakeside promenade there is a small playground with public toilets, and near the ferry landing you'll find Bar Molo 23, offering cold drinks, sandwiches and a few hot dishes - with an incomparable view over the lake. Cantiere Brovelli, which has offered berths, boat storage, and rental and sale of boats and engines since 1933, is also located in the harbour area.
Ranco is known for its scenic natural setting and features the Sass Cavalasc natural monument as well as a transport museum nearby.
