About the harbour

Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026

Doëlan is a small fishing and pleasure harbour set in a narrow ria in southern Finistère, in the commune of Clohars-Carnoët between Le Pouldu and Brigneau. The harbour is primarily a fishing port with 11 vessels and 300 pleasure moorings, and is regarded locally as one of the unmistakable gems among Brittany's small harbours.

The entrance is narrow, with an entrance width of 8 metres, while boats lie swinging on buoys in the outer harbour, and the inner harbour dries out, requiring legs. From 1 July to 31 August a harbour office staff member assists boats in taking a mooring, with a latest arrival time of 8.30pm, while the quays are reserved for professionals. Manoeuvring under sail is forbidden in the harbour, and the maximum speed within the harbour area is 2 knots.

The harbour offers two toilets and showers, plus wifi. Fuel can be obtained at the supermarket in Clohars-Carnoët. The commune keeps a close watch on the use of the Vieux Doëlan quay regarding launching rights and the use of fresh water, which serves as the harbour's slipway. There is also a 15-tonne crane along with a chandlery and a marine carpenter for repairs.

Both banks are lined with stone houses, and the harbour has two banks with different atmospheres – the left bank is home to crêperies and restaurants, while the right bank hosts the fish auction and the maritime cooperative.
