About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Båtforeningen Sjekta is a small, member-run boat club located in Tronvikbukta on the west side of the island Jeløya, in Moss municipality, Norway. The club has an idyllic north-facing location and currently counts around 295 members, of whom 160 hold a boat berth. Its roots go back to 1958, when a boatbuilder's workshop on the site built small wooden boats known as "sjekter" – hence the club's name.
The berths here are unusual: boats are kept on land and hauled up using electric winches rather than being moored at a floating pontoon. The waiting time for a permanent spot is roughly 4 years, and space is reserved for smaller boats up to 16 feet (500 cm) in length and 195 cm in width.
The clubhouse forms the social hub of the association – it hosts annual general meetings and board meetings, and members regularly gather there for coffee and conversation. Outside the boating season (between 15 September and 15 May) members can rent the clubhouse, and club evenings with shared meals are held roughly every six weeks. During summer, the club traditionally holds a summer party and a fishing competition.
