About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Bray Harbour is a small tidal harbour at the mouth of the River Dargle on the Wicklow coast, about 20 km south of Dublin. It sits on the edge of Bray, one of Ireland's largest towns and a popular tourist resort, and the harbour is used solely for leisure activities.
The harbour dries out and entry should be timed around high water. Fixed-keel yachts and motorboats are advised not to enter but to anchor about 60 metres off the pierhead, where there is shelter from southwest through to northwest. Bray Sailing Club lays a seasonal visitor mooring just north of the north pier, and the club's own moorings on the south side of the harbour are often made available to visiting boats when vacant – it's best to contact the club in advance, which monitors VHF channel 11. There are also short public pontoons on the north pier for brief alongside berthing. No harbour dues are known to apply.
The Bray Sailing Club clubhouse welcomes visiting sailors and offers changing rooms and showers. Right by the harbour stands an old pub, the Harbour Bar, with outdoor seating and live Irish music.
Bray's town centre, with shops, restaurants and good DART rail connections to Dublin, is within walking distance, and from the harbour you can follow the signposted coastal path Slí na Sláinte along the promenade to Bray Head. Come alongside, soak up the atmosphere of this Victorian seaside town, and take a stroll along its famous promenade.
