Burøysund

Burøysund is a small fishing settlement in Karlsøy municipality in Troms, located on the northeastern side of the island of Vanna/Vannøya by the strait Burøysundet, which separates Vanna and Burøya. The place has around 36 inhabitants and is home to the Børøysund local heritage museum. Burøysund has a relatively new fishing and small-boat harbour, and the settlement is seeing increasing tourist traffic linked to outdoor recreation and, in particular, sea fishing.

The harbour is operated by the company Burøysund Fiskeri og Småbåthavn AS, whose purpose includes building, operating and maintaining the fishing and small-boat harbour in Burøysund, as well as renting out apartments and boat berths and running a service workshop with boat haul-out and winter storage of boats and caravans. Nearby is Burøysund Brygge, a holiday resort offering apartment and boat rentals geared towards sea fishing, described as one of Northern Norway's best starting points for catching big fish such as halibut, cod, pollock, ling, haddock, salmon and trout.
