About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 30 September 2026Dársena de Cabo de Palos is a combined fishing and pleasure-boat harbour in the village of Cabo de Palos, in the municipality of Cartagena in the Murcia region, built on land in the lee of the Cabo de Palos headland with a counter-mole protecting the entrance. The harbour comprises five floating pontoons and several quays, and the basin was built as a fishing and recreational port in the 1970s.
Berths accommodate boats up to a maximum length of 15 metres, with a water depth of between 2.00 and 2.50 metres at the pontoons. At the end of 2025 the authorities published a new allocation process increasing capacity to 172 recreational berths, with places reserved for diving companies, charter boats and official vessels, as part of a more sustainable distribution of moorings.
The harbour offers waste collection and the sale of boat gear/chandlery items, and local harbour guides also indicate access to fresh water, fuel, shore power and a crane for boat lifting.
The basin serves as the village's natural gathering point, hosting among other events the maritime procession of the Virgen del Carmen. From the Paseo de la Barra promenade, lined with cafés and restaurants serving the local arroz caldero dish, it is a short walk to the coastal path leading to the famous lighthouse, and to diving centres linked to the well-regarded Cabo de Palos e Islas Hormigas marine reserve.
