About the harbour

Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 30 September 2026

Darsena Italia is one of six basins that make up the Porto di Viareggio, located in the outermost stretch of the Canale Burlamacca in Tuscany. The basin was built between 1903 and 1905 as part of the port's historic expansion.

The harbour monitors VHF channel 16 (24 hours) as well as channel 70, and access to the port is continuous. The seabed in the port area is sandy, with mud inside the basins themselves. Darsena Italia has water depths of around 3 metres, and across the port's basins, quay depths generally range from 2 to 4 metres.

Darsena Italia is shared between pleasure craft and shipyards — part of the basin is reserved for leisure boats, while another part is used by local boatyards (cantieri navali), so you can find boatyard-related facilities in the area.
