About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Flåm lies at the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord, a branch of the Sognefjord, close to the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord. The harbour area is partly run by Aurland Hamnevesen KF, the municipal harbour authority, and partly by the family-run Flåm Marina, which offers a smaller guest harbour right in the village.
As a sailor you can moor either at the floating pontoon at Flåm Marina or at the marked wooden quays within the harbour area. Depths at the entrance are generally good, but expect busy traffic from fast passenger boats, sightseeing vessels, and up to around 120 cruise ships a year, which brings plenty of activity to the harbour basin during the day while it grows quieter in the evening.
In the harbour you have access to shore power and fresh water on the pontoon, along with showers, toilets, a washing machine, and an environmental station. Flåm Marina also runs an on-site restaurant and accommodation, and free wifi is available. Within walking distance you'll also find a kiosk, grocery store, café, playground, and parking.
The village is one of Norway's most visited tourist destinations, and from here you can experience the famous Flåm Railway – the train journey from the high mountain station of Myrdal down to Flåm – as well as the spectacular Stegastein viewpoint 650 metres above the Aurlandsfjord. Moor up, take in the dramatic fjord scenery, and stroll the short distance to the train station for one of Norway's most spectacular rail adventures.
