About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Vadstena Gästhamn is a municipal guest harbour set in the moat surrounding Vadstena Castle, on Lake Vättern and the Göta Canal. The harbour is operated on behalf of Vadstena Municipality by a private operator and enjoys a strikingly picturesque setting right next to the castle.
Guest berths lie at buoy moorings and alongside quays within the moat, with an approach depth of roughly 1.5-3 metres according to sailing guides. There are about 50 berths with shore power, 14 of them at buoys in the castle moat, plus a further 20-40 berths without power. The harbour is open all year, while guest service is offered from May to August.
Ashore you'll find a service building with toilets, showers and access to fresh water year-round. Pump-out for holding tanks and grey water is available at the entrance to the area, and waste and recycling can be dropped off in nearby containers. Parking sits right next to the guest harbour and castle, and bicycle rental is available in town.
Just steps from your berth you'll find Vadstena Castle with exhibitions and the Birgitta Pageant, the Abbey Church, the Convent Museum, an herb garden, a lace museum, a glassworks, a toy museum and a bird tower, plus mini-golf and golf three km away. Vadstena is also a full-service town with a pharmacy, state liquor store, bank, post office and fuel within easy reach of the harbour. Tie up in Vadstena and enjoy the castle idyll in the height of summer!
