About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Vågen Guest Harbour lies right in the centre of Stavanger and is one of the city's two guest harbours run by Stavangerregionen Havn IKS – the other being Børevigå, located east of Vågen close to the Norwegian Petroleum Museum. The harbour can accommodate up to 20 yachts, and the deep water means it can be visited by most types of vessels. Note that the marina may be closed for short periods during festivals and events.
The harbour is open towards the north, and strong winds from the north or northwest can create large waves, making it unsuitable for leisure boats at those times – the floating docks are therefore only in use during the summer season, while the walkways are removed in winter. Stavanger normally has heavy cruise ship traffic in summer, and when the ships leave Vågen in the afternoon, waves and strong currents from their propellers can occur, so keep a close eye on your mooring lines during those minutes. Payment for the berth is made via the GoMarina app, and the first hours between 09:00 and 18:00 are free within a 24-hour period.
Electricity and fresh water on the docks are included in the price. The service building is located in Børevigå and is open during the season; there you'll find toilets, showers, plus a washing machine and dryer – access is included in the harbour fee, and you receive a code after payment. There is also a playground for children.
