About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Grisebukta, also known as Kommersøya Øst - Grisebukta (Tømmeret), is a natural harbor on the eastern side of Kommersøya, an island in the Holmestrand fjord. The island has been protected as a nature reserve since 2006 due to its special geology and distinctive plant and animal life, and it is a popular summer destination for boaters from across the Oslo fjord.
The harbor has a floating dock with berths, along with two piers and several posts to moor against. The water gets progressively shallower further into the bay, with roughly 1.5-1.8 meters at the outermost part of the dock. The harbor is very well protected from all directions, and it is especially popular in summer while quieter during winter.
Ashore there is a toilet building and waste bins. There is also a playground for children and a swimming spot near the harbor.
Grisebukta is a good starting point for excursions on Kommersøya, where you can follow the cultural heritage trail established by the municipalities of Holmestrand and Sande in cooperation with the Vestfold museums. The trail highlights the most important historical sites and activities on the island since the 1600s. The island is also known for fossils, rare orchids, and rich birdlife with as many as 50 breeding bird species.
