About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 29 September 2026Hafen Schnatermann is a small municipal fishing and excursion harbour in the north-eastern part of the Breitling, right next to the Schnatermann nature reserve and the large Rostocker Heide forest. The harbour sits in an idyllic, quiet spot beside the traditional excursion restaurant Schnatermann, housed in a former forester's lodge.
Approach is via the Warnemünde Seekanal along the marked Schnatermann fairway, turning north-east off the Chemiehafen. Boats moor alongside the quay on both sides of the old ferry harbour, but depths drop markedly to well under 2 metres further into the harbour, and the front section of the south quay must be kept clear for ferries and excursion boats. Only a few guest berths are available, and these can only be used by prior arrangement. The pontoon facility itself was closed in 2020 due to serious damage to the sheet-pile wall, but was renovated and reopened in August 2022.
The harbour itself offers no notable infrastructure or services, but right next door is the well-known excursion restaurant Schnatermann, which also has toilet facilities for visiting sailors.
From here it is a short walk to a pleasant bathing beach just south of the harbour, and the harbour makes an ideal starting point for hikes through the scenic Rostocker Heide protected landscape area. In summer, an excursion boat runs a scheduled service between Schnatermann and Markgrafenheide/Warnemünde. Tie up at this idyllic harbour and take the short walk to the Gaststätte Schnatermann or out into the heath.
