About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Hjarbæk Havn is a marina in Hjarbæk on Hjarbæk Fjord, part of the Limfjord. The harbour is jointly owned by Viborg Municipality and Viborg Sejlklub and offers around 120 berths for motorboats, sailboats and dinghies. As far back as the Viking Age, Hjarbæk served as the official harbour of Viborg.
An approximately 550 m long and 25 m wide dredged channel with a depth of 1.8 m leads into the harbour, where the depth is likewise up to 1.8 m; the largest vessels able to enter the harbour are 14 m long, 3.5 m wide with a 1.7 m draught. The approach runs through a lock at the dam above Virksund, which can be passed day and night, but only in clear and visible weather. Within the fjord itself there is a speed limit of 8 knots for motor vessels out of consideration for the bird sanctuary. Guest berth fees are administered by Viborg Sejlklub and are paid at the machine in the clubhouse – MobilePay can be used if the machine is out of order.
As a guest you have access to toilets, showers and fresh water, as well as shore power on the pontoons and pump-out facilities. The harbour also offers a waste station, a slipway and a mast crane, along with a barbecue area, bike rental, wifi and a restaurant in the harbour area.
