About the harbour

Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedfrom the harbour's website · 27 September 2026

Jachthaven De Leeuwenbrug lies right in the historic centre of Harlingen, bordering the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea, and consists of Noorderhaven and Zuiderhaven. The marina offers around 100 guest berths and 92 permanent berths, making it an ideal base for trips across the Wadden Sea, to the Wadden Islands, or into the Frisian hinterland; via the Van Harinxmakanaal you can also easily reach the Frisian lakes.

Both harbours are tidal: at a water level of NAP +1.10 m the flood gates close, typically from one hour before to one hour after high tide depending on the wind, and during this period vessels cannot enter or leave. Noorderhaven suits boats with a draft up to about 2.20 m, while Zuiderhaven accommodates larger, deeper-draft vessels. Note that until 9 October 2026 the bridge towards Zuiderhaven has limited opening due to works, and passage is only possible after arrangement with the port.

The marina provides sanitary facilities for guests, though these are closed during winter from 1 November to 31 March. The harbour office is located at Noorderhaven 34 and has limited opening hours in winter.

Both harbours are within walking distance of Harlingen's centre, with restaurants, shops and terraces. Moor up in Noorderhaven or Zuiderhaven and stroll the short distance into the town's lively centre.
