About the harbour

Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedfrom the harbour's website · 27 September 2026

Jachthaven De Leeuwenbrug lies in the heart of Harlingen's historic centre, right next to the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea, and comprises Noorderhaven and Zuiderhaven. The marina has around 100 guest berths and 92 permanent berths and is an ideal base for trips across the Wadden Sea, to the Wadden Islands or the Frisian hinterland; via the Van Harinxma Canal you can also easily reach the Frisian lakes.

Both harbours are tidal harbours. At a water level of NAP +1.10 metres the high-water gates close, typically from one hour before to one hour after high tide depending on the wind, and during this period it is not possible to enter or leave the harbour. Noorderhaven suits vessels with a draught of up to about 2.20 metres, while Zuiderhaven has room for larger and deeper-draught vessels.

The marina offers sanitary facilities including toilets and showers, though these are closed during the winter period from 1 November to 31 March. The harbour office is located at Noorderhaven 34 and has limited opening hours in winter.

Both harbours are within walking distance of Harlingen's centre with restaurants, shops and outdoor terraces. Moor up in Zuiderhaven and take the short walk into the charming old town centre.
