About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Jøllestø is an old fishing harbour on Lista in Farsund municipality in Agder, situated at the very edge of the open sea between Farsund and Flekkefjord. The harbour is publicly owned and was expanded and secured by the state harbour authority, work that was completed in 1903 after decades of struggle with the exposed location. The harbour is still in use today, both by local year-round residents who keep boats moored there and as a popular excursion destination.
The coastal path Kyststien, a well-known and popular hiking trail, runs right past the harbour, and the Vita Velo cycling route also passes the site, where a rest area for cyclists has been laid out. You can park your car at the harbour and walk a stretch of the coastal path from there. Be aware that in stormy weather combined with high tide the harbour can flood as waves break over the pier – on such days it is important to respect the forces of nature.
The surroundings clearly bear the marks of the area's long settlement history, with farms and holiday homes that have increasingly replaced the original year-round housing. The place is regarded as special and full of nature and culture, and is today best known as an atmospheric spot for hikers and cyclists passing through.
