About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Lahelle is a municipal small-boat harbour in Kristiansand, located on the Otra river close to the town centre. The harbour is one of several small-boat harbours administered by Kristiansand municipality, where berths are allocated through the municipality's booking and waiting-list system.
The site has a long history as a trading and ferry location. According to local historical sources, Lahelle was likely already a trading centre in Oddernes during the Viking age, and over the centuries the site has hosted an inn, a coaching station, a pottery workshop and a mechanical works, as well as a courthouse (tingstue) dating from 1697.
Today the area around the old harbour is characterised by newer residential development along the riverbank, including the Lahelle Brygge housing project near the Otra, within short distance of Kristiansand town centre.
