About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedfrom the harbour's website · 28 September 2026Port de plaisance de Kembs is located in Alsace on the Canal de Huningue, which connects to the Rhône-Rhine canal near the Kembs-Niffer lock. The marina has existed since its official inauguration in 1986.
The approach runs via the small lock at Niffer and onward along the old "Canal de Huningue" - watch out for warning signs about current and a narrow passage. Right at the entrance lies "Loch Ness", the remains of an old swing bridge, with a standard width of 5.05 m and good marking; stay on the canal's axis and proceed slowly, keeping preferably to the left side. There is current in the canal (2-3 km/h), so it is recommended that all skippers moor at the outer pontoons. If these are occupied, there is also a visitor area at the top of the basin, just to the left of the lifting bridge. The marina monitors VHF channel 22. Visiting boaters are welcome, and the harbour office can be contacted to arrange arrival.
Near the marina you'll find Auberge de la Péniche, where Isabelle et Roger welcome guests, as well as Camping du Canal, located at the crossing of EuroVélo routes 6 and 15 and at the entrance to the nature reserve La Petite Camargue Alsacienne, which works on conserving biodiversity and natural heritage. The town of Kembs itself is close by, and the Swiss city of Basel, with its medieval old town and Gothic cathedral, can be reached nearby.
