About the harbour
Automatically summarised text: Automatically summarisedvia web search · 28 September 2026Sauzon is a picturesque fishing and pleasure harbour on the northwest coast of Belle-Île-en-Mer, built along a ria over a kilometre long that winds inland between houses with pastel-coloured façades. The harbour has 380 berths in total and is known as a quieter alternative to the island's main port, Le Palais, with less boat traffic.
To announce your arrival, contact the harbour office on Quai Guerveur via VHF channel 9. The entrance between the breakwaters is about 60 m wide with a depth of 3 m. The port offers 180 visitor berths split between Port Bellec (22 berths on white buoys, boats up to 15 m), the outer harbour (40 berths moored crosswise for monohulls up to 12.5 m, max draft 2 m), and the inner drying basin (up to 120 berths on red buoys). Anchoring is prohibited in Port Bellec and the outer harbour, where cross-chains and buoys are used instead. Harbour staff, who patrol in a small red rigid inflatable, assist with mooring and collect the harbour dues.
On the quay you'll find toilets, showers, a washing machine and dryer, plus a wifi code available from the harbour office. There is also waste sorting and drinking water points at the berths.
Just a short walk from the boats, you'll find a lively village centre with colourful houses, restaurants and quays that fill with sailors and locals in the evening.
